Heart of Darkness

The Heart of Darkness is the title of an extensive short story or short novel by Joseph Conrad published in 1899, and in book form in 1902. Set in Africa, The Heart of Darkness is to some extent inspired by The six months that Joseph Conrad spent in Congo colonized and devastated by King Leopold II of Belgium. Today is probably the best known work of Conrad. It was included in the series Great Books of the 20th Century, published by Penguin Books.
