Growing Fungus

This book brings together recent advances in the cell biology, physiology and genetics of growth and differentiation of filamentous fungi. Many advances have been achieved through the application of new cytological, biochemical and molecular techniques to the study of filamentous fungi. The book is divided into five main sections: the growing fungus; the architecture of fungal cells; metabolism and genetic regulation; coordination of growth and division; and differentiation. An appendix is also included dealing with the taxonomic groupings of fungi. "The Growing Fungus" should appeal to senior undergraduates, postgraduates and research workers in mycology and microbiology. While the focus is on fundamental aspects of fungal growth, the information presented will also be relevant to those interested in the more applied aspects.
