Desperate for a job, Celia Rayburn leaves an interview in downtown D.C.-only to stumble upon an assassination attempt at a rally in Freedom Plaza. Amid the chaos, a rookie reporter catches her on camera. But when she tunes in, expecting to see herself on the news, there's no mention of the attack.

That night, her world shatters. Her husband is brutally murdered, and a mysterious tall man comes after her next. Fleeing for her life, she finds refuge with a determined detective, but the more they investigate, the more disturbing the truth becomes.
