God for a Secular Society

This book has grown from lectures which Jurgen Moltmann has given in predominantly secular institutions. Its main sections cover theology and politics, theology and the changing values of the modern world, and theology and religion. Many important issues are discussed: political theology and liberation theology, ecology and human rights, globalism and individualism, the market and human dignity. There are also chapters on Jewish and Christian theology after Auschwitz, Protestantism, liberalism and fundamentalism, dialogue and mission, and theology in the church and the university. At a time when theology in many quarters has become narrow and introspective, here is a theologian who is not afraid to address his words, both positive and critical, to the widest possible audience. Until his retirement, Jurgen Moltmann was Professor of Systematic Theology in the Protestant Faculty of the University of Tubingen.
