Geology and Coal Fields of the Lower Matanuska Valley, Alaska

The area described in this report covers about 200 square miles and is situated in the lower part Of the Matanuska Valley, in the south-central part of Alaska. It is about 25 to 50 miles northeast of tidewater at the head of Cook Inlet and about 100 miles north of Seward, which is the nearest large town and the nearest ocean port.
