Gastrointestinal Tract in the Aged

The elderly population is rapidly increasing is size as a result of the ageing of the baby boomers following the Second World War. Since there is a greater morbidity and mortality with advanced age, it is not surprising that this group is becoming a major consumer of health care resources. Most of the organ systems of the body undergo significant changes during the ageing process and the gastrointestinal system is no exception. This book reviews the changes in the entire GI system as a result of ageing and to provide a guide to practitioners who are dealing with the care of the aged.
