Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. In the preparation of this system, it has been my aim to combine and present, in a harmonious whole, all of the modern improvements, as well as to introduce a more perfect method, and more practical opera tions not found in other systems. In short, to present the subject more as a science than an art. I am aware that however valuable the science of drafting may be, it has by no means been perfect, if indeed it could be said to exist at all. It is only within a few years that the true principles on which this science rests, have been suggested and confirmed.
