The Fall of N menor

... is a collection of stories about the History of Middle-earth from the First Days to the end of the War of the Ring, through the Second Age and the rise of Sauron, in which events are related that will later be narrated in The Silmarillion and in The Lord of the Rings.

The book concentrates on the territory of Middle-earth, and includes such elements as the lively speech in which Gandalf explains how he came to send the Dwarves to the famous meeting in Baggins End; the emergence of Ulmo, the god of the sea, before Tuor's eyes on the coast of Beleriand; a detailed description of the military organization of the Riders of Rohan; and the journey of the Black Riders during the search for the Ring.

The Fall of N menor...

also contains the only surviving account of N menor's extensive past, prior to his fall, and all that is known about the Five Magi, the Palant ri, and the legend of Amroth.
