Crash Rescue

This book is a unique guide to the various types and makes of vehicles used by the RAF for crash rescue and fire fighting. As these vehicles rarely if ever leave the airfield perimeter, they have received little coverage until now. Paul Hazell not only provides a full history of the deployment of the vehicles during both the Second World War and the Cold War, but also includes rare photographs of the many different types that were produced by British firms as diverse as Land Rover, Alvis, Thornycroft, Crossley and Scammel. The text is also flavoured with oral histories and anecdotes of those who operated the vehicles both in war and in peace.
