Courage of the Heart: An American Odyssey, 1915-1923 is a true historical narrative of World War I, based on letters found in the home of the author's husband's grandparents after their deaths. It is an intimate account of two families and three brothers from western Illinois, each facing the Great War in uniquely different ways.It is the extraordinary love story of Haidee Wilson and Maurice Chatterton, told in their own words and spanning the years from 1915 to 1923. Maurice's odyssey carries him from rural Illinois to Rock Island, Chicago, Canada, England, the Western Front of France, and finally back home again.
