Couplets

'Couplets' is a themed collection of short stories exploring the nature of relationships, set against the backdrop of the rapidly changing world of the latter part of the 20th century. The stories range from the awkwardness and angst of teenage love towards the end of the swinging 60s, to the negotiation of the minefield that characterizes relationships in the middle years at the dawn of the computer age. Andrew John Hamling relates these tales with warmth and humour and one may suspect that he has written them from personal experience. Each story is left tantalisingly unresolved, enabling the reader to imagine his or her own ending.
