The quiet life of a small French town is disrupted by the arrival of a young woman, Vianne, and her daughter. They come with a lively, colourful carnival parade. The Hollywood film of the same name, directed by Lasse Hallström (Hachi: A Dog's Tale, What's Eating Gilbert Grape) and starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp, was nominated for five Academy Awards.
