Bruiser Brody was a wrestling legend - a superstar so popular with the fans that promoters were forced to put him on despite his continued refusal to job - to accept scripted defeat at the hands of another. Blood, guts, controversy and independence were his name - until July 17, 1988, when he was stabbed repeatedly in a shower after a match with Abdullah the Butcher and Dan Spivey, allegedly by another wrestler.
