Brief History of the Newark Academy

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Under this authority John Catlin was employed, and became the first teacher in Newark. He appears to have been an active and public-spirited man, at one time holding the office of town attorney, and at another being chosen as one of the Town's Men.
