Breaking Character

"e;Breaking Character"e; is a sharp, witty, sexually charged coming-of-age story that takes place in New York City during the early 1980s. This is the story of Teddy Karas. He is a fifteen-year-old boy from Queens brought into the life of his dreams, filled with glamour and sophistication, and he's having a hard time handling it. In 1983, Teddy Karas is living in Queens and dreams of becoming an actor. Supporting his hopes and aspirations, his mother allows him to sign up for acting classes in Manhattan, under the mentorship of Jonathan Shepard, a casting director. Taking Teddy under his wing, Jonathan exposes him to a life every teenage boy dreams about - filled with sex, drugs, and the finer things of life. In this sharp and witty tale, Teddy soon realizes that the glamor and sophistication comes at a price - one he is at first willing to pay. Yet, as Jonathan's sexual games continue to escalate, Teddy finds it harder and harder to play along.
