...In 1924 a ship arrived in New York harbor from Europe with fourhundred immigrants including Bruce Dawson and his wife, Vivien. Comingfrom Scotland, they became residents in Idaho Falls and looked for a farm. Bruce found a farmhouse was old like his father ugly build of the usualsomber corniest stone. It had a mellow with remindedhis own in Scotland around the porch arent a wild roses entwined withclusters of honeysuckle. There was a little garden in front of the house, andthe wife tended it carefully and grew herb. Vivien said, I smelled thymeand lavender, and for a moment she stood by the front gate and savoredthe mingling scent of the herb garden.
