प्रस्तुत पुस्तक का उद्देश्य प्राचीन काल से आधुनिक युग तक भारतीय तथा पाश्चात्य दर्शन में विकसित निरीश्वरवाद का तुलनात्मक विवेचन करना है। इसमें उन महत्वपूर्ण निरीश्वरवादी विचारधाराओं एवं सिद्धातों की सविस्तार व्याख्या और विवेचना की गई है जिनका विकास भारतीय सभ्यता के वैदिक काल तथा पाश्चात्य सभ्यता के सुकरात-पूर्व युग से लेकर बीसवीं शताब्दी तक के दीर्घ काल में हुआ है। जहां भी संभव हो सका है, वहां लेखक ने यह स्पष्ट करने का प्रयास किया है कि भारतीय दर्शन तथा पाश्चात्य दर्शन में उपलब्ध होने वाले इन निरीश्वरवादी सिद्धातों में क्या समानताएं और अंतर हैं जिनके आधार पर इन सिद्धातों की भली-भाँति तुलना की जा सकती है। भारतीय एवं पाश्चात्य दर्शन में निरीश्वरवाद पर हिंदी में यह प्रथम पुस्तक है जिसमें लेखक ने इस कठिन दार्शनिक विषय की यथासंभव सरल भाषा-शैली में व्यापक और तुलनात्मक विवेचना की है।

Wherever possible, the author has endeavored to clarify the similarities and differences between these atheistic principles found in Indian and Western philosophical traditions, establishing a basis for their effective comparison. As the first book in Hindi on atheism in Indian and Western philosophy, it presents a comprehensive and comparative study of this complex philosophical subject in the simplest possible language.
