Quickly on the rise in his firm, ambitious attorney Chad Hampton is forced to challenge his historical knowledge and religious beliefs when a WWII veteran stands in the way of his professional pursuits. In the final stages of a land development project in a small North Carolina town, Chad must tackle his final contract with William Lohman, an aging war hero with a dark secret and a deep grudge, neither of which he is giving up easily. When it becomes clear that neither Chad nor William are going to concede to one another, the two form an unlikely bond and a troubled William finds himself choosing to share his secrets that could leave himself, Chad and anyone in the path in danger.
