''When I was Italian'''' - is the first short story in the collection of the selected short stories by A. D. Balashov. This is an ironic short story about the way the students of polytechnic institute take part in the shooting of the Soviet and Italian film «sunflowers». There they play the recessive Italian soldiers, participating in crowd scenes. No one of the students knows or remembers the war that is why the irony with which they treat the Italians and themselves is appropriate and lawful.
