Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. This view gave such a clear-cut and tangible representa tion of chemical combination, that it was very largely, though not universally, adopted, and caused the conception of the atom to be familiar to every chemist.
