Altar Ego Musings

"Are there pets in heaven?" "Is there sex in heaven?" "What would Jesus drive?" Often lighthearted in tone but always thoroughly rooted in scripture, the editorials in Altar Ego Musings are drawn from five years of publication in the Northern Virginia Daily. They deal with scientific interests from a biblical perspective: evolution ("Religion, Revolution and Evolution", "Up from the Slime"), astronomy ("Talking to Extraterrestrials", "Lost in Space: Feel the Wonder"), popular political questions ("Which Ten Commandments", "A Good Book for Schools"), popular holidays ("St. Patrick for Protestants", "Late for Christmas", "First Christmas Eve: No 'Silent Night'", "Resurrection Rabbit", "Easter Disappointment,") the relationship between Christianity and Judaism and Secular Humanism, prayer, biblical interpretation, and a five article exploration of the Noah's Ark story. Most of the more than fifty editorials include introductory comments and concluding remarks by the author, a retired Lutheran pastor and graduate of Princeton theological Seminary and Union Theological Seminary, New York.
