First published in 1912, "e;Alexander's Bridge"e; is American author Willa Cather's first novel. The story centers around Bartley Alexander, a famous engineer and bridge builder who is going through a mid-life crisis. Despite having a wife named Winifred, Bartley rekindles an old flame in London-an affair that Bartley's innate propriety and honour would make him regret. Willa Sibert Cather (1873-1947) was an American writer famous for her novels related to frontier life on the Great Plains. Other notable works by this author include: "e;O Pioneers!"e; (1913), "e;The Song of the Lark"e; (1915), and "e;My ntonia"e; (1918). She won the Pulitzer Prize for her World War I novel "e;One of Ours"e; (1922). This classic work is being republished now in a new edition complete with an excerpt from "e;Willa Cather - Written For The Borzoi, 1920"e; by H. L. Mencken.
