A Surge of Chaos

In the year 2112, 80 years removed from the apocalyptic event known as the Cataclysm, a tenuous peace exists between what remains of the world's population, locked within the only real livable land that still remains. Dubbed the "Known-World" the area stretches from the seceded former U.S. State of Texas through to the western coast. And in the middle of the Known-World rests the former Western Front, renamed the West. An unclaimed territory that was once part of New Mexico and Arizona, the West embodies the old-world vibes of the old Western Frontier, where laws are loose and outlaws are revered.

Among the cutthroats and bandits who roam the West are two men with extraordinary powers. Myles "Chaos" Maximus is an enigmatic Western Ranger with haunting purple eyes. Sergio "Surge" Alonso is a bulbous-nosed Bounty Hunter of infamous reputation. The fierce rivals represent a Western legend that permeates the West about people capable of conjuring magic out of thin air: The Mages of the West.

In A Surge of Chaos the two rivals are hired for similar jobs by opposing members of the opulent Slynn family, and are pitted against one another in a bid to defend the warring mayors of the West's largest city, Twin Peaks. The job stinks to high heavens, but neither Myles nor Surge can abide the other getting their way. Both Slynn brothers believe they have bet on a winner, ignorant of the consequences and unprepared for the carnage. Of course, as is the case with magic, things are never what they seem.
