South-South Aid

Development aid usually describes wealthy countries of the North assisting poorer countries of the South. In contrast, "South-South Aid" examines how countries of the South are trying to help each other. More and more Third World countries are providing development assistance to other developing countries. This book examines a range of these "South-South Aid" projects sponsored by such countries as China, Korea, Cuba and Brazil. Health care, agriculture, irrigation, and technical assistance projects are examined in the difficult West African context. "South-South Aid" provides evidence and insights into the emerging phenomenon of "South-South Aid".
