The name of Timofey Dokshitser (1921-2005), a unique musician and "trumpet singer," primarily brings to mind the distinctive, warm, and enchanting sound of his instrument. A soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of the USSR, conductor, educator, and author, Timofey Alexandrovich Dokshitser was an outstanding musician of the 20th century and undeniably one of the finest trumpet players.

Dokshitser began working on the orchestral transcription of the concerto in the early 1990s. In 2009, the "DSCH" publishing house released the transcription of the Trumpet and Piano Concerto. This publication marks the first time that the full score and parts of the transcription of the concerto are made available.
