Downward Mobility questions assumptions about unconventional housing, mobility and simple living, considers what works, and how different types of living and looking at things can open more housing options for Americans--and saner living for the forty to sixty million Americans looking for something different than standard housing. The journey takes the author from a conventional life into mobile homes, residential hotels, an old RV in a squatters camp in the desert and Detroit, all settings many fear. Yet many of these abodes made sustainable, safe, affordable home bases and provided settings for amazing adventures besides.
