Deconflicting Air Traffic with Spacecraft Launches and Recoveries

The surge in spacecraft launches strains the air traffic control system, necessitating evolution. This study uses a mixed-methods approach to address the urgent need for an efficient and safe air traffic management solution during space launches. Findings reveal three areas for improvement: launch data integration, streamlining separation from launches, and enhancing automation. The research emphasizes the need for a revamped system, reducing flight restrictions while ensuring safety through automation and collaboration. It contributes significantly to both air traffic and space launch communities, urging policymakers, scientists, and stakeholders to discuss overhauling the current system for better integration and management.
