This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 26th European Conference on Information Retrieval Research, ECIR 2004, held in Sunderland, UK, in April 2004. The 28 revised full papers presented together with 2 keynote papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 88 submissions.
