Complete Empathy

Anyone who has experienced the ability to know when a friend or loved one is frightened, hurt or dying has experienced a form of Complete Empathy. Jennifer Matthews is one of a very few who does it on purpose, it's her job to help her terminal patients accept death, gently holding their hands emotionally and mentally while they cross over that final threshold. Forced by her boss to take a vacation for a "infusion of life", Jennifer takes an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas. There she faces an unexpected romance, rejection, kidnapping, a few murders, pain, suffering... Yup, life sucks. That threshold toward her own death is coming closer, and starting to look like a reasonable and comfortable alternative...
