The title, That time of Year, is taken, as many readers will recognize, from Shakespeare's Sonnet 73, and there are love sonnets in the book; but almost all of them are for persons who have had the experience of late love. Some poems are about childhood memories, and some have been published before in U.S. and Canadian quarterlies. Both the author and his wife hope to confirm the belief that love is better in our autumn years. Love is truly tested by that time of year.
