In a history-making case, the California district attorney's office has charged a defendant with attempted murder by intentional infliction of HIV, and they're counting on Deputy D.A. Kathryn Mackay to make the conviction.

But when a bomb explodes in the courtroom, disabling a young inspector, Kathryn joins the investigators in a deadly race against time and she suspects a connection between the bombing and trial.
