Tao-Zen Ways: Techno-Logos Antidote?

The author explores the nature of Tao-and-Zen from the Chinese and Japanese perspectives, as well as the Western movement of Zen in various forms. The usual purpose of the author is to use the Tao-Zen tradition, and its closeness to nature and the balance and harmony in the natural and simple as an antidote for the Westward movement toward the technical-rational-and-conceptual. Some reference is made to Krishnamurti and Zen, even though he did not claim to be associated directly. Key authors include S. Suzuki, D.T. Suzuki, R.H. Blyth, Alan Watts, John Blofeld, and Robert Powell. The author is impressed with the Tao of Zen and believes it can serve as a pace-maker and a closeness to nature that would be a good antidote to scientific materialism and the technological imperative of the United States.
