Gedackt, gedacht for organ

Lotta Wennäkoski's Gedackt, gedacht is written for the Helsinki Music Centre's Rieger concert organ, the inauguration of which was on the 1st of January in 2024. The music is built on both delicate and thicker tones: thin flute-like patterns are contrasted with clusters, for example. Wennäkoski's former teacher Kaija Saariaho had donated a million euros to fund the organ but sadly passed away half a year before the inauguration. This thought shaped the mood of the piece in a melancholic direction. The first word in the title refers to the name of a soft-sounding register, while the second is the German word for "intended" or "thought".
