Doodles & Aphorisms

In this very personal collection of small drawings, each accompanied by a short poem, artist Sharlet Vaughn Di Giorgio and poet Pietro Mario Di Giorgio share with us some of their innermost thoughts and feelings.Sharlet writes, "When I was a little girl, our family lived in a finished attic above my grandparents. It was during the great depression, back in the Thirties.""My nickname was 'Mutsy', short for 'Cute little Mutt'. I loved to draw rabbits and kittys with very long whiskers. My grandparents thought I was God's gift to art. When I started kindergarten, there were other boys and girls that could draw rabbits and kittys, and many other animals I didn't even know about. This made me upset. I am still upset ""My parents saved my little drawings in a shoebox. Through the years, the collection grew. Unfortunately, many were destroyed in a basement flood. I now keep my drawings and doodles in a metal biscuit box, where they are safe. I want to share some with you.""My husband Pete is a poet. In addition to his published poetry, he has a special file labeled 'Thought Seeds'. These are small aphorisms he wrote for a book called 'Nuggets In A Brook'. I coaxed Pete to put a few in my book, and so, here they are-Doodles & Aphorisms. The images and the 'Seeds' are in no particular order. They are just there, and that makes me happy."
