The Painted Fire

The Painted Fire is a dark love story set in England in the autumn and winter months of 1850. Lucius Steer is a young, mute farmhand with no confidence; inhibited by his condition and living an isolated life. When he meets Florrie Carrington, the outspoken and rebellious wife of a local aristocrat, their lives become shaken up beyond recognition. When events conspire to condemn her to a life of violence and abuse, Lucius feels compelled to find the emotional strength and courage to help her.
