Social-Emotional Learning: Strategies, Development and Educational Impact

In 1994, the term social emotional learning was introduced by the well-known organization CASEL (Collaborative to Advance Social and Emotional Learning) which partnered with educators and researchers to define and promote the concept in the field of education. This book, written thirty years later, looks at how social-emotional learning (SEL) has evolved over the years, and why it is important, as well as how SEL can be applied effectively in both K-12 and higher education learning environments. Readers will learn how various schools, school districts, colleges and universities support their students with SEL, and they will acquire practical strategies for integration of SEL. This book explores what whole community approaches to SEL look like with a focus on affiliated topics such as growth mindset, emotional intelligence, equity, and cultural inclusiveness.
